We very reluctantly signed him up because we try not to make life unnecessarily busy. And, then because it's a fairly small group of scouts in our little community Casey also became the den leader for Gabe's tiger scout group. Because like I said, we try not to make our lives unnecessarily busy...ha!
We reasoned that it would be a great opportunity for father and son to spend quality time together once a week through the school year in a no siblings allowed atmosphere (usually...sometimes Barrett would tag along). And, it has been that.
There's a whole book of lessons the cub scouts have to complete to become tiger scouts and at their weekly meetings that is what Gabe and his two buddies and their parents worked toward all year. By February, the whole den had earned their tiger badge and were awarded the special patch at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet.
Before the banquet the weather was really beautiful and everyone was in a great mood and looking so cute, so I took advantage and snapped a few shots. But first, a look back.

Casey thought he was supposed to bring a table centerpiece. So he made this awesome one, sawing the pieces of wood himself and creating the entire thing from scratch. He was the only leader that brought one.
Each level represents something significant to the scouts. At the top, duty to God, second, duty to country, third, the Scout oath, and down on the bottom a miniature tiger scout camp site.
