Easter Fishin'

After Easter lunch everyone changed into their fishing clothes and we took off for one of the several ponds on Uncle Tom's farm. Both of the ponds we fished were behind barbed wire fences...meaning the cattle were up close and personal again. Not as personal as the ones in the corral from a few weeks ago, but not too shy either. Gabe seemed much less bothered by them this time around.

At the first pond we didn't have much luck. So, we pretty quickly moved off to another one. I was able to catch a couple. My cousin's girlfriend was reeling them in as fast as she could cast. Just about everyone else got a chance to catch one too. The boys, Bryson and Gabe, ran around from person to person checking out the catches.

It was a wonderful way to spend a warm Sunday afternoon. The only thing that would have made it better is if Casey could have joined us instead of having to do homework.

So serious.

Bryson and his daddy Jerad.

Gabe wanted to sit next to Bryson.
I totally saw this going really bad with two
young'uns casting hooks. But, they did just fine.

I know what you're thinking....
What an incredibly stylish woman!

I didn't bring my boots and only had nice white tennis shoes to wear around the manure stricken pond banks. So, my mom kindly lent me her mud boots.

How Gabe managed to keep from falling in the pond is beyond me.

He spent the majority of his time at this second pond right on the edge of the steep banks throwing clods of mud/manure into the pond water. It was a boy's dream for sure. We had to strip him down before he got back in the truck because of all the fresh manure he collected on his pants and boots.

It was an awesome afternoon fishing with family back home in the comforts of familiar land. The kind of land where you don't need a license to fish in your uncle's pond and when the lures you brought aren't working he digs you up a bowl of worms to use instead. Huge thanks to Uncle Tom and Aunt Suzanne for having everyone out that day!
