The Boys Meet Ellie

One of my favorite things about Barrett's delivery was introducing him to his big brother, Gabe. Ellie's introduction to both her big brothers will also go down as one of my favorite moments from the day.

I wanted her brothers to meet her first so as soon as the room was cleaned up from the delivery I had them brought in. Gabe is old enough to understand that babies are fragile and you should be quiet around them and talk sweet to them while holding oh-so-carefully. Gabe was ever-so-gentle with her, smiling and talking sweet. Barrett...not so much. He wanted to get right in there and have his chubby hands around her and in her face. And, so he did.

Barrett's perplexed look is cracking me up.

Almost like he's saying, "Whoa. Brother. Did you know that's what we were waiting on?"

"Nose."

"Hold her. Hold her."

So, Barrett got to hold her first.

He just grinned and grinned.

And poked around on her face a little.

Nearly three weeks later and he's still doing that.

Gabe looks so old!

Safe to say he adores his little sister.

The boys did not want to give her up to the next person. Gabe especially wanted to hold her a lot. Even now at home he still requests to hold her often. He's quick to comfort her when she cries and he loves playing music for her on his computer. Barrett is slowly coming around to the idea of being gentle with Ellie. It helps that Gabe models this so well, because Barrett wants to do everything big brother does.
