Colorado Vacation Day Eight

One week of vacation, a short night of sleep, and the mood is set for leaving Colorado…exhausted, cranky, ready to just be home. But the fun wasn’t over yet!

Dad wanted one last fishing extravaganza in so he, mom, and the boys went down to the river at the resort for a little fly fishing. Bryson and Gabe both caught tiny fish. Meanwhile, Casey and I packed up our stuff back at camp and Ellie took a little nap.

Papa, Barrett, Gabe, and Bryson

We pulled the camper out of the spot at noon, loaded the motorcycles, had one last photo as a group just outside our resort, in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Oh, Ellie. We feel you.
Stopped at McDonald's for lunch in Winter Park.
She was done.

Then it was Eastbound and down for about 8 hours. Denver traffic was kinda horrible and it took us a while to get through. When we hit Goodland we hooked a right to enjoy an evening at the famous Wallace County Fair in Sharon Springs, KS. For my B’ville friends…it’s like a fair, but at the kiddie park. Cheap rides, great small kid rides, cheap games with fun prizes, and a whole bunch of salt of the earth kind of western Kansas people running the whole show. No creepy carnies, and only one sketchy looking ride operator. Probably the nicest fair I’ve ever attended.

Gabe and Barrett.
Those protective big brother hands on Barrett were
more for Gabe's comfort than Barrett's.

The kids rode to their hearts’ content and played games winning a couple of fun prizes. My phone said midnight when we finally drove back to the camper. But, I guess they’re still on mountain time there so it was only 11. Still very late and it was another short night of sleep before getting up the next day to finally head home.
