Gabe has had a great time playing Tball this season. He has made a great new friend on his team, whose brother is on Bryson's team so they play together at all of Bryson's games too. The dads that work with the kids are great encouragers. Overall, it has been a great experience to introduce him to the game and I hope he'll continue to have fun with it as he grows.
They give the kids a chance to hit off a pitch and if after three pitches they don't get a hit, they put the ball on a tee. Gabe gets a hit off the pitch about fifty percent of the time. After his first practice he told us his favorite part of the game was running, Casey asked again this weekend and he now contends that hitting is his favorite part of the game. As an observer, I can say this is probably true. His focus on defense is quite lacking. He likes to chase balls more than he likes to properly field them.
These are photos from his first game.
Getting some instruction from daddy at second base.
Moved over to first base.
Here comes the ball...
...there goes the ball...
Smilin' for Mom.
Casey's saying, "Get to your base."
Oh look! Ball in hand on his way to the base!
Beat the runner! Score!
Or, not score. You know what I mean.
Swing...batter, batter...
SWING!
Taking time to savor the moment.
Wondering why everyone in the park is yelling, "RUN!".
Oh, RUN!
The little guy on home plate is Gabe's new friend Tanner.
The coach on the right in the grey shorts was the head coach this year.
We'll be wrapping up his season in the next couple of weeks. I was so glad he was able to play this season and I am really appreciative of all the dads putting in early Saturday mornings to work with the kids. Gabe felt comfortable on the field from the beginning and the encouragement of all the coaches made him enjoy it all the more.
