In His Steps: A Casey Update

I know, I know. You come here looking for Gabe updates. Well, today in honor of my wonderful husband I'm giving a Casey update. And, yes...there will be pictures of Gabe included.

As of yesterday at 4:00 pm, he is officially finished with Spring Semester 2011!

Let's recap what that really means. This semester he completed 4 credit hours of Biology, 3 credit hours of College Algebra, 3 credit hours of Accounting I, 3 credit hours of Human Geography, and 3 credit hours of Humanities I. A grand total of 16 credit hours in one semester and he worked a more than full time job and has responsibilities helping around the house! Whew!

After nightly, hours-long studying and working on assignments, he topped off the semester with a 3.0 gpa. I am so very proud of him. When we registered him a few weeks ago for the summer and fall semesters we took an inventory of hours needed to graduate and it looks like two more years of full time classes and then he'll be a college graduate! We're counting down the days. Well, years at this point. But it sounds shorter to say days. :-)

On the job front he is still currently working at DSR through Career Employment Services on a temporary employee contract. Yesterday he put in a resume and application with the Bartlesville school district as a computer telecommunications specialist (basically tech support for the school). This job would offer about the same pay he's getting as a temp for DSR, but has the added benefits of health insurance, sick leave, and vacation time. We would love for Casey to have this job. However, if he doesn't get it, we know it's because it wasn't meant to be. Time and time again God has provided for us and given us just what we needed even before we knew we were going to need it.

Last night to celebrate the end of a very successful semester and also the possibility of a new job on the horizon we headed out to the Pathfinder. For non-Bartians, the Pathfinder is a series of winding, paved trails that connect throughout the entire city. At some parts of the Pathfinder you don't even feel like you're in the city...it's more like a secluded wooded area. Gabe ran and ran and ran. We probably walked a good mile and a half and he ran nearly the entire time.

And, then we went to Jared's Custard for our first custard of the season. I know, it seems counterproductive, but after a semester like the one Casey's had he deserved it! And, Gabe and I were more than glad to oblige him in celebrating. :-)
