Any ideas?
How about now?
Okay, surely you'll know with this next picture.
Mama, there's no table....
Oh, well. I'm just glad for the extra playing room!
As you can see, we are table-less. We advertised our table on Craig's List a couple of weeks ago. We had one failed sale because the folks purchasing it didn't keep up their end of the bargain. We reposted, and within three days found a new buyer, and today a very nice couple from Owasso drove up, paid in cash, and took our beautiful table away. We've been thinking about getting a new table since we've had Gabe. The table was counter height and I didn't like the idea of sitting a small child in such a high seat.
A couple of months ago, over Christmas break we found a table we really liked at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City. But being the good little Dave Ramsey student I am, we decided to shop around before buying. So, I did some research on line and Mathis Brothers had the same table, but for nearly $300 more and without the bench that the set Nebraska Furniture Mart was offering. Casey called Mathis Brothers to ask about their price matching policy, and the gentleman he spoke to said they would normally match and often beat a competitor's price. So, I printed out the information from Nebraska Furniture Mart's website on the table pricing and off to Tulsa we went this afternoon.
Going down we were really excited thinking we totally had a hand up in the negotiation because a competitor had a better price, and the fact that we're going up to Kansas in a week and a half to visit family so we could just as easily buy the table at Nebraska Furniture Mart if they didn't meet our price goal, oh, and we're repeat customers.
Well, let me tell you something folks. Shockingly, they wouldn't even meet NFM's price. They had some stupid formula that they calculated in which they plugged in the cost of "delivery" and their so called "match" was more than the price of the table at NFM. Our sales person said that it came straight from the senior sales manager and there was no other person he could ask above that.
Long story short, we left without the table and will never purchase from them again. We weren't happy about walking away because it did cost an unnecessary trip to Tulsa, but oh well. We had cash in hand and were ready to negotiate but they didn't want to play...so not worth our time. Dave Ramsey would be really proud.
And, for a week and a half Gabe has a really nice play area.
